Bounce Guarantee
Automatic refunds from your sending provider's bounce feed
Connect the provider you send through and RocketVerifier watches its bounces. When an address we verified as deliverable hard-bounces within 30 days, the credit for that verification is refunded automatically, with no ticket to file. Bounced and complaining addresses are also added to your suppression list, so they are never verified (or mailed) as good again.
How the Loop Works
Verify
A list is verified in a bulk job, file upload or integration sync; a credit is charged per address.
Send
You send to the deliverable addresses through SendGrid, Mailgun, Amazon SES or Postmark.
Bounce reported
The provider's webhook (or the daily poll of its bounce API) reports a hard bounce.
Refund + suppress
1 credit back for that verification, and the address goes on your suppression list.
Refund Rules
Refunded
- A hard bounce (permanent failure) reported by a connected provider
- of an address that a charged verification on your account returned as deliverable (classification valid)
- within the 30 days before the bounce (the most recent such verification is the one refunded)
- 1 credit, once per verification, shown in your credit history as "Bounce guarantee refund"
Not refunded
- Soft bounces (temporary failures, blocks): recorded only
- Spam complaints: suppressed, not refunded
- Addresses we reported as risky, unknown (including catch-all) or undeliverable
- Verifications older than 30 days at the time of the bounce, and single POST /v1/verify calls (only job verifications are covered)
- Sandbox-key jobs (they were never charged)
- The same verification again: repeated or duplicate bounce events never refund twice
Every bounce event is stored once (keyed on the provider's event id), so webhook retries and overlapping polls are no-ops. If the same address bounces again through another channel, the verification it points to has already been refunded, and nothing more happens. Gmail-style address variants (dots, +tags) are matched to the verification they belong to.
Automatic Suppression
Hard bounces and complaints are added to an auto-managed suppression list, Bounces & complaints (auto), created on the first event. Verification consults your suppression lists, so these addresses come back as risky with sub_status: do_not_mail in later API calls, uploads and syncs, and the free list-health preview counts them as suppressed.

Each integration has its own webhook URL, https://api.rocketverifier.com/webhooks/connectors/{platform}/{integration_id}, shown on its page in the dashboard. Deliveries are verified with the provider's own signature scheme; unsigned or wrongly signed events are rejected.
Beta: the bounce-feed connectors are in beta. Refunds apply to verifications that ran as a job (bulk API, file upload, dashboard list or integration sync) on the same RocketVerifier account that connected the provider.
