Shopify Integration

Beta

Theme app extension + customer sync

Two parts that work together: the RocketShield app embed checks email fields on your storefront while shoppers type and blocks bad addresses before submit, and the customer sync verifies every existing, new and updated customer server-side and writes the result back as a tag and metafields.

Not yet listed in the Shopify App Store. Connect your store from the RocketVerifier dashboard (Integrations → Shopify), which installs the app on your store through Shopify's OAuth. The app requests only read_customers and write_customers.

RocketShield App Embed

1

Create a shield

In the RocketVerifier dashboard open RocketShield, create a shield, choose its blocking rules and message, and add your store's domains to Allowed domains (your *.myshopify.com domain and any custom domain). Copy its public rs_... key; this is not your secret API key.

2

Enable the embed

In Shopify admin open Online Store → Themes → Customize → App embeds, turn on RocketShield and paste the shield key. Choose whether to protect forms on all pages (the footer newsletter form is on every page) or on account and contact pages only. Save.

3

Test on the storefront

Use a sandbox shield and @sandbox.rocketverifier.com addresses, or a few known-bad addresses. With no key set, the embed loads nothing on the storefront.

  • The widget protects every input[type=email] on the page and blocks submission for addresses the shield rejects.
  • Blocking rules and the message come from the shield's settings in the dashboard. The current widget (v2.0.0) does not read the block-disposable / block-role-based / message options shown in the theme editor.
  • Checkout and the new customer accounts pages are not themed, so the widget cannot run there. Emails captured at checkout or in new accounts are verified after the fact by the customer sync below.
What the embed outputs
<script>window.rocketShieldConfig = { apikey: "rs_...", platform: "shopify", overrides: { ... } };</script>
<script src="https://app.rocketverifier.com/widget/v2.js" defer data-shield-key="rs_..."></script>

Privacy & Compliance

customers/data_request

Acknowledged with the verification data RocketVerifier holds for that customer.

customers/redact

That customer's verification rows and cached results are deleted.

shop/redact

Everything stored for the shop is deleted.

app/uninstalled

Access tokens are dropped and the integration is disconnected. Reinstalling reconnects it.

All Shopify webhooks go to one app-level endpoint, https://api.rocketverifier.com/webhooks/connectors/shopify, and every delivery is checked against X-Shopify-Hmac-Sha256 (base64 HMAC-SHA256 of the raw body with the app secret); invalid signatures get 401. Customer emails are sent to RocketVerifier only to verify them; see GDPR & Privacy.

Shopify Connector

Beta

The connector behind the customer sync. It reads customers through the Admin GraphQL API, verifies them in regular jobs and writes the result back 20 customers per request.

How to Connect

1

In RocketVerifier open Dashboard → Integrations → Shopify, enter your <store>.myshopify.com domain and click Connect to install the app and approve read_customers and write_customers.

2

Pick the source to sync, the schedule and the write-back options in the integration settings, then click Sync now or wait for the schedule.

Tokens are stored encrypted and, where the platform issues expiring tokens, refreshed automatically. If access is revoked the integration is marked as needing re-authorization; reconnect it from the dashboard.

What It Syncs

Sources

All customers.

Incremental syncs

Customers updated since the last sync.

Schedules & Credits

  • Schedule: Manual only, Daily, Weekly or Monthly. Each run syncs the source chosen in the settings; Sync now starts one immediately. Only one sync runs per integration at a time.
  • Mode: Full re-checks every contact in the source except those verified in the last N days (default 30, 0-365); Incremental only checks contacts changed since the last sync.
  • Each sync creates a regular verification job: 1 credit per unique address, and unknown results are refunded when it completes. If the balance is too low the sync stops with insufficient_credits before anything is charged.
  • Results are written back when the job completes; the sync history in the dashboard shows updated, failed and skipped counts per run.

Write-back

Fields ("Write status fields")

  • rocketverifier.email_status (metafield)
  • rocketverifier.email_verified_at (metafield)

Customer metafields in the rocketverifier namespace.

Tags ("Tag contacts with their status")

rv:<status>, e.g. rv:undeliverable; the other rv: status tags are removed.

Status values are deliverable, undeliverable, risky and unknown (disposable addresses are undeliverable, catch-all addresses unknown). Sub-status is a sub_status value (none when there is no extra detail), score is 0-100 and verified-at is an ISO 8601 UTC timestamp.

Action Rules

In the integration settings, pick an action per result: Invalid, Disposable, Risky, Catch-all, Unknown or Valid. Actions run after the field/tag write-back.

Add tag

Adds the action tag.

Auto-verify New Contacts

Turn on Auto-verify new contacts. The app subscribes to customers/create and customers/update; each delivery is checked against Shopify's HMAC signature and de-duplicated on X-Shopify-Webhook-Id.

Every new contact costs 1 credit. Addresses this integration verified in the last 30 days are skipped, and webhook events are de-duplicated for 24 hours, so platform retries never charge twice.

Beta: the Shopify connector is new. Sync reports list every contact that could not be updated; please tell us if something looks wrong.

With Auto-verify new contacts on, every customers/create and customers/update delivery is considered. Addresses this integration verified in the last 30 days are skipped, so updates for an unchanged email (including the one RocketVerifier's own tag/metafield write-back causes) normally cost nothing; a new customer or a changed email costs 1 credit.
